are pixel fonts that easy to make?

So I saw this guy on a youtube tutorial telling us about how easy it was for him to create pixel art fonts,  so I got excited and all and thought about adding a font to my pixel cyberpunk UI elements collection.

 (spoiler alert it wasn't that easy, it is time consuming especially if u working with free softwares with no fancy extensions!)

what about u have u ever tried to make ur own font? i want to know about your experience and the softwares u used to do so.
